Editor: Deryck Satchwell; Number of pages 133; Size 7" x 9"

The Alchemy of Words: an Anthology of Belizean Literature is a two-volume anthology intended for use in first and second forms.

This book provides students with an opportunity to practise reading comprehension skills and strategies needed to prepare for CSEC English B. The range of topics covered in the selections also provides many opportunities for links with the material in the core-subject syllabi of the new Caribbean Certificate of Secondary Level Competence (CCSLC).

Taking its title from Rudolph Smith's poem Words, this book focuses on developing students' appreciation for the craft of writing.

For many years Deryck Satchwell, the Editor of this volume, has been serving as a CSEC Examiner and currently is a member of the CCSLC Panel and Chair of the English sub-committee for the ATLIB Placement Examination. During the editing of this book he was assisted by a team of enthusiastic English teachers - Gail Brooks, Isela Garay, Luisa Gillett, Alva Marin, Emil Pulido and Yvette Sanker.
